For Pritzker Children's Initiative
Role: Designer
The Pritzker Children's Initiative (PCI), in collaboration with its partners, wanted to create a video to help spread awareness of HealthySteps, an underutilized early childhood support program available to DC residents.
The program provides medical care and screenings for young children, as well as mental health support, coaching, and administrative assistance for parents. It was particularly important for community members of underserved wards to be informed of these services. The video needed to feel personalized for DC’s unique neighborhoods and varied culture.
With starting information from the creative brief, I researched local themes and imagery to quickly create an initial, simple moldboard to share with my team and client. Once an overall look and feel was approved, I designed a storyboard in primarily HealthySteps colors using custom illustrations, adapted assets, and local photos. I paid special attention to the character designs, to ensure they felt real, authentic, and like they could be my neighbors.
The art files were then handed off to another team member to animate and produce, resulting in the Graphic Design USA award-winning piece below. My contributions from kickoff through storyboard took place over the course of about a month.
